Comparision with Flow Charts
Comparison of the Flow Chart and Process Matrix formats (for a process within the “24/7 barrier”)
Flow Chart:
Process Matrix for the same Flow Chart:
Normally KnowGo would start challenging the constraints, thereby utilizing the freedom of the Process Matrix:
- Are all the predecessors really necessary, or are they just there to make it simpler to draw the Flow Chart?
- Must Activities 2 and 3 wait for completion of Activity 1?
- Must Acticvity 4 wait for completion of Activity 3?
- Is it necessary that the roles cannot see each others’ progress?
- Is there any reason why Role 1 is not allowed to see what Roles 2 and 3 are doing?
- And vice versa?
- Are the rules correct and complete – in other words, is the process really fully compliant in all cases?
- Is it always irrelevant to know the answer of Question 2, if the answer to Question 1 is “Yes”
- Dynamics and changing conditions
- What if, after Role 2 or Role 3 has begun his/her work, then Role 1 changes his/her mind and repeats activity 1 with new data?
